The 3D sensors for the iPhone 8 camera are ready

Largan Precision, the chief executive of Largan Precision, said his company will begin shipping 3D sensors from the second half of 2017 to Nikkei.

The chief executive did not specify which companies would cooperate with his company, but since there are many conversations about Apple's desire to use three-dimensional sensors on iPhone 8, the potential for cooperation between the two companies is strong.

Largan Precision has previously collaborated with Apple by providing a large proportion of camera lenses on the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, so the relationship is strong and paves the way for the use of these sensors in the new generation.

Since February 2017, KGI reports that Apple wants to use three-dimensional sensors in the front camera of the iPhone 8, first to use facial recognition techniques. It also intends to activate some enhanced functionality functions, which was evident after the launch of the ARKit package on iOS 11. Finally, these sensors will allow the capture of three-dimensional images.

With a simple technical explanation of the technology, the front camera will remain the same. However, the sensors will be laser and calculate the dimension of the elements from the camera. The algorithms will then merge the image from the camera and the data from the sensors to produce high-resolution 3D images. In addition, Apple may use this technology as a second layer to confirm user identity.

Wistron chief executive himself confirmed that the iPhone 8 will support wireless charging, and will come with higher resistance to water.
